Prudence Wants a Pet

There are many many many books out there about pets. Children wanting pets (I Wanna Iguana and What Pet to Get)... Pets wanting pets (Gilbert Wants a Goldfish)....and Pets wanting children (Children Make Terrible Pets). But there is something different and sweet about Prudence. The illustrations are sweet, simple, and lovely. Children will also laugh as Prudence adopts everyday items and tries to make them her pets...a branch and a men's dress shoe that she feeds and walks. Everyone will relate to this story of wanting and dreaming for a pet of their own.

Prudence wants a pet. Desperately.
“No,” says Dad, “pets cost too much to keep.”
“No,” says Mom, “pets make noise.”
But Prudence is determined. She finds her own pet. It is a…branch. But Branch isn't exactly the pet of her dreams, and neither are Twig, Mr. Round (a car tire), or her baby brother Milo.
Poor Prudence. Will she ever find the perfect pet?

  1. I was just thinking the other day about doing a week about PET books! THanks for the tip! One of my favorite PET BOOKS - Small Brown Dog With A Wet Pink Nose! So cute!
