I'm Back!!!!

Ok...Ok....I am back to my blog now! I took a few weeks off for summer vacation. I love living at the beach...you don't have to go anywhere and all of your friends and family love to come visit :)!!!!

But Carson and I have been very busy with our summer reading and trips to the library. We love going to the library every Tuesday for storytime! Last week she checked out some fun books. I just finished reading The Help, which is now probably one of my top 3 favorite books ever! I also finished 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass and LOVED that! It is a SC Children's Book Award Nominee for this year. Now I am about to start Rob Lowe's biography. So we have had a very "booky" summer so far.

Here is a book we checked out last week and it is a must for school libraries and art collections! It would be a perfect companion book to The Dot by Peter Reynolds.

Lots of Dots by Craig Frazier

In this exuberant book, Frazier does more than simply showcase a vast variety of dots, he encourages readers to look closely at the world around them. Through his energetic images, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Buttons are dots. Wheels are dots. Ladybugs have dots. And so do the fried eggs on your plate. Lots of Dots is lots of fun!

"Some dots are big. Some dots are small. Some dots float, and some dots fall." I love the simple rhyming text that goes with the illustrations. This could lead to a fun art project and creative writing lesson. Have the kids write their own lines and draw dots that they observe.
