I just found this book today and I LOVE it. At my schools in Westerville, 2nd grade had a unit on different cultures and this would be a perfect book. One of my schools also had a multicultural night and every class learned about a different country and culture. Again...this book would be perfect to tie the lessons together.
Carmelita loves to greet everyone in her diverse neighborhood. There are people from so many different cultures! They all like to say hello too, so now Carmelita can say hello in Spanish, English, French, Japanese, and many other languages. And her dog, Manny seems to understand everyone, and gives a happy "Woof!" wherever he goes.
